Detroit, Michigan July 25, 2019 – JMJ Phillip, a veteran to volunteering across their respective communities, has jumped at another opportunity to give back. JMJ Phillip took a team of nine employees down to Ronald McDonald House yesterday, July 24th, to cook up team favorites to feed families residing in the Detroit facility.
Ronald McDonald House currently serves as a home away from home for families with children undergoing extensive medical treatment. The efforts behind the charity alleviate additional financial burdens for hotels and travel expenses for family members while providing the comforts of a normal life for those experiencing traumatic circumstances.
“After hearing many of our employees’ personal stories of how the Ronald McDonald House has positively touched the lives of their friends and family, we chose to partner with the legendary organization in hopes of bringing comfort and hope to others going through difficult times,” said Kristen Fowler, Vice President of JMJ Phillip Group. With this said, wanting to aid in the efforts of providing hospitality, the JMJ Phillip staff pitched in by cooking up a menu of apple chicken stir fry, egg rolls, and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies for the families currently residing there.
Ronald McDonald House boards a family of four for a donation of $10 a night. If families are unable to provide monetary donations, the location still opens their doors 24 hours before and after the children’s treatment or appointments. Each room comes with a private bathroom and has shared access to public areas including the kitchen, living and dining rooms, media center, children/teen rooms, courtyards, and laundry rooms. Each family also has the ability to bring their own groceries to store in lockers or assigned fridge spaces.
The staff at Ronald McDonald House is always looking for donations of cleaning supplies, disposable eating utensils, or individually packaged snack foods for families to enjoy. To see a full list of their wishlist and other ways to give back, please visit their website.
