Other major employers in the city include Crest Foods Inc., Neiman Marcus Group Inc., The Home Depot Inc., Walmart Stores Inc., Lowe’s Companies Inc. and BNSF Railway Company. Additionally, many small businesses throughout the city provide employment opportunities for local residents. Education is also a major provider of employment in Dallas with the Dallas Independent School District being one of the largest employers in the area followed by Southern Methodist University and University of North Texas at Dallas. Healthcare is another large contributor to the employment in Dallas with UT Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Health & Hospital System being two of the largest employers.
